Duties and Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees management and personnel decisions relating to the clinical and pre-clinical laboratory staff.
  • Develops and leads training within the laboratory and reviews and appraises their performance in conjunction with the training team.
  • Directs and coordinates laboratory activities to ensure that services are provided on schedule with quality and cost objectives.
  • Ensures that all laboratory activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws, as well as corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensures a laboratory environment that is safe from physical, chemical and biological hazards.
  • Ensures verification procedures used are adequate to determine accuracy and precision.
  • Ensures test methods have capacity to provide quality results.
  • Performs proficiency testing.
  • Establishes laboratory organizational plan and delegates responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities to appropriate subordinates.
  • Directs, coordinates, and oversees major laboratory projects to the best economic advantage of the corporation and experience for our Clients.
  • Creates and evaluates new procedures and equipment for potential use in the laboratory and recommends new procedures and equipment where necessary.
  • Plans for and builds capacity in the lab and capability of teams to enable revenue growth.
  • Coordinates quality assurance activities
  • Oversees and manages the clinical and pre-clinical laboratory budget.
  • Partners with Human Resources on talent outreach to recruit and retain Clinical Lab Scientists and other laboratory staff.
  • Drives an environment of continuous process improvement by engaging employees to implement ideas that will simplify and improve their work.
  • Cultivates an inclusive, motivational, enabling and performance-oriented work environment.
  • Develops, oversees, and maintains a dashboard of KPI's.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field from an accredited College or University required.
  • ASCP certification or Master's degree in related field from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years' progressive operations experience with at least two (2) years of demonstrated leadership and management responsibilities overseeing exempt and non-exempt staff.
  • Have a deep drive for organizational excellence, problem solving and drive for results
  • Strong technical competencies in the areas of RT-PCR and/or Cell Biology.
  • Desire to be part of high growth, fast moving organization
  • Ability to provide hands-on leadership to all levels of the team to inspire collaboration and results
  • Previous experience in a role that provides laboratory products and/or services to Clients and holds a customer focused mentality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) preferred.
  • Previous experience in both a diagnostic and research laboratory
  • Previous experience building production scheduling to meet client needs
